1 – Service Centre Team Leader (Job Reference: TL/LNPD/APR26)

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Team Leader to join our busy Service Centre at our head office in Elstree.

The Service Centre Team Leader is a newly created role and will be responsible for the day-to-day running of our Optical Fibre Fusion Splicer Service Centre and management of a team of service technicians.

As part of the role, you will decide how the inspections, repairs and maintenance services are managed and prioritise them within the team. You will also approve sales’ quotes and orders, ensure a correct level of stock is held within the department and respond to customer queries.


It is therefore vital that you have previous supervisory experience and come from a service maintenance background. Knowledge and experience in electro mechanical or opto assemblies is also a must!
A recognised qualification in electronics/telecommunications is desirable but not essential.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

• good verbal and written communication skills
• good planning, analytical and organisational skills
• excellent interpersonal skills to line manage a team, deal with other Company employees at all levels and customers in a professional manner
• good computer skills with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office
• to be capable of lifting and moving machines and boxes
• to be able to work to a specific time frame to ensure products are delivered to customers on time.

2 – Service Technician (Job Reference: ST/LNPD/JUL26)

Job Description

Monday to Friday 9.00am-17.00pm 35 hrs per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced service technician to join our busy Service Centre at Sumitomo Electric Europe Ltd at our head office in Elstree.

Sumitomo Electric is widely recognised as one of the world’s leading forces in the research and development of high-technology products and systems in the info-communications, electronics, automotive and environment & energy industries. Our mission is to enrich our society through the provision of our products, which include optical fibres, cables and connectors. We have been established within the UK for 50 years and are part of a wider global group employing more than 280,000 employees in 415 companies worldwide.

We are looking for an experienced technician who can confidently calibrate, service and repair our fusion splicer products to customer timescales.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

• A high level of competence in working hands-on with electro-mechanical and opto-electronic technologies

• A good eye for detail to ensure accuracy in your work

• The ability to achieve timescale targets

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and ERP systems

• Good verbal and written communication skills

• A UK Level 3 BTEC or ONC in science, engineering or relevant technical subject, or equivalent.

It is also highly desirable that you have no passport restrictions for travel within Europe or to our parent company’s offices in Japan.

3 – Supply Chain Planner (Job Reference: SCP/OPS/JUL26)

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Supply Chain Planner to join our busy Operations team at our head office in Elstree.

Our mission is to enrich our society through the provision of our products, which include optical fibres, cables and connectors. We have been established within the UK for 50 years and are part of a wider global group employing more than 280,000 employees in 415 companies worldwide.

The Supply Chain Planner is a newly created and key role within our Company, as they will be responsible for managing a smooth and seamless flow of data centre products and information across the supply chain from our factory partners to our customers.

This will involve a high degree of communication and collaboration with various parties in various countries to expediate components and materials to timely deadlines and customer requirements.

The work will involve planning, tracking of shipments, resolving supply chain issues, analysis of supply chain data and forecasting.

The Data Centre business is an exciting field to work in and a sales area our Company is looking to achieve rapid growth in over the coming years, so this is a fantastic opportunity to develop within our Company and make the role your own.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

• 5+ years of work experience in supply chain management ideally gained in the data centre or/and telecom industry or similar

• Experience of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and able to meet deadlines

• Experience in collaborating across multiple departments

• Experience of managing vendor relationships

• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills

• Knowledge of supply chain processes, logistics and inventory management and able to bring innovative ideas to the role and company

• Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks

• Proficient in the use of MS Office (especially excel) and supply chain software/ERP systems

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to monitor performance and optimise processes

• Educated to degree level with preferably APICS, CPIM, LEAN certifications or other supply chain related credentials.
